The imperial palace’s century-old Eternal Lamp suddenly goes out, and the sacred Ember Jade—its power source—disappears without a trace. Su Wan, a newly appointed female constable, is tasked with solving the case, only to encounter Gu Zhao, a mysterious nobleman who claims to be an "old friend" of the Ember Jade. Gu can freely enter the heavily guarded lamp tower and avoids questions about the jade’s origins. As clues emerge, Su discovers a secret late emperor’s edict hidden beneath the lamp—and Gu’s true identity: the sole survivor of the former dynasty’s lamp guardians, whose family was massacred. When the truth behind the palace walls is exposed, will Su choose to uphold her duty to the imperial power, or avenge Gu’s fallen family?
