At a class reunion after ten years, Lin Xiaoyu unexpectedly reunites with her first love, Zhou Yan. The two, who separated due to misunderstandings, are reminded of the past in a coffee shop by an old coaster with the mark of a caramel macchiato and a copy of Love in the Time of Cholera with a ginkgo bookmark. Lin Xiaoyu discovers that Zhou Yan has kept the hand-drawn comics she secretly put into his schoolbag, while Zhou Yan admits he silently took on the misunderstanding of her family's变故 (translator's note: '变故' here means 'upheaval') back then. As the fragments of memory come together, they gradually break down the walls built by their past inferiority and pride. Among the falling ginkgo leaves, the long-delayed 'I've been waiting for you' makes time seem to return to that深秋 (translator's note: '深秋' means 'late autumn') playground of years ago.
