Lin Xiaoman, an overworked professional in 2024, accidentally travels back to a 1985 state-owned textile factory while flipping through her grandmother's old photo album late at night. There, she meets a young man identical to Zhou Mingyuan—the "late lover" in the album. At 22, he's a workshop technician with a tiger-tooth smile, fixing her wobbly bike and hiding warm sugar pancakes in his coat for her. But Lin remembers her grandmother's words: Zhou will die saving a drowning child in 1987. She tries desperately to change his fate, only to fall for him gradually. It turns out the time travel isn't to fix her grandmother's regret, but to let her catch her own "brightness" from that midsummer. When the 1987 rainy season comes, she rushes to the dock with a note saying "Don't go to the river," but Zhou takes her hand and puts it in his pocket, smiling: "I know you have secrets, but I'd rather build our future together."
