24-year-old Lin Xiaoman just got fired. While crying on the balcony, she stumbles upon her 82-year-old great-grandma Zhou Guilan’s old boxing gloves—turns out the senior was an amateur boxer in the 1960s, who gave up her dream to care for her sick husband. To help Xiaoman regain courage, Grandma Zhou drags out a homemade sandbag, forces her to jog and practice horse stance daily, and even secretly signs her up for an amateur boxing match. From “shaking while lifting fists” to “punching with force”, Xiaoman not only learns to stand up for herself at work but also understands the “never-surrender” spirit in Grandma’s fists: The coolest life isn’t about never losing, but daring to punch again after losing.
