In early Republican China, pianist Cheng Xue encounters mute gardener Zhou Mo in her ancestral home. When she discovers him playing lost masterpieces in an abandoned music room at night, a warlord-covered massacre resurfaces. As they investigate amidst falling snow, neither realizes their most dangerous enemy is posing as their protector.
