Lin Xiaoman, a laid-off office worker, fights tooth and nail to rush home for her critically ill grandma during Spring Festival travel—only to face one disaster after another: no tickets, scammed out of her money by scalpers, and her bus breaking down on the highway. Desperate, she squats by the road until Gu Chuan, a quiet ex-soldier, hands her a cup of hot water: “Need a ride?” This “detour” partner not only helps her get her money back and fix the bus but also uncovers the truth behind her layoff: her company was covering up corruption and silencing her. From bickering to teaming up, Gu Chuan uses his military grit to help her take down the corrupt bosses, while Xiaoman’s warm congee melts his closed-off heart. In the end, they make it home just in time to see her grandma, send the corrupt boss to jail, and turn that “detour” into a lifelong journey together.
