Thirty-year-old fairy tale writer Lin Xiaoman faces contract termination because her work is deemed "too unrealistic," and she catches her five-year boyfriend cheating—shattering her belief in "fairy-tale love" completely. Until she meets Chen Mo, the sarcastic auto mechanic downstairs—he never says "I'll support you," but leaves a bowl of warm wontons when she pulls an all-nighter; he doesn't give roses, but squats in the rain to fix her old bicycle filled with childhood memories. As Lin Xiaoman tries to write a new story "without princesses or knights," Chen Mo's past emerges: he was dumped by his first love for "not being romantic enough" and now fears relationships. Both carrying trauma from "fairy tales," they draw closer, only to find a warmer truth than any fairy tale in each other's "imperfections"—turns out, the best love isn't living in a script, but daring to turn "imperfect" days into their own fairy tale together.
