Lin Xiaoman is the top host of the late-night radio show "Voice Journey". Ten years ago, she made a promise with her partner Gu Zhaonian: when their show became popular enough for an offline concert, they would sing their exclusive song "Paper Boat" in full. But Gu Zhaonian suddenly vanished before the concert, leaving no goodbye. A decade later, Xiaoman receives an anonymous song request on her show—exactly the full version of "Paper Boat", with the background noise of their old radio show mixed in. When she tracks down the requester, she finds Gu Zhaonian in a wheelchair, clutching a crumpled unsent ticket—he was diagnosed with ALS back then and left silently to avoid burdening her. Now he just wants to hear her voice one last time before he dies, unaware that every episode of Xiaoman's show over the years has been an unfinished confession to the "missing him".
