A thousand years ago, Gu Zhaozhao, the daughter of the prime minister, was executed along with her entire family because she mistakenly trusted Crown Prince Murong Heng. Reborn in modern times, she accidentally meets Li Jingshen, a CEO who looks exactly like Murong Heng. At this time, Li Jingshen needs a "contract wife" to fight for his family's inheritance, so Gu Zhaozhao seizes the opportunity to join in—pretending to be an obedient wife to gain trust while secretly investigating Li's illegal activities, determined to avenge her past life. But as they get along, Li Jingshen's tenderness makes her waver: he brings her hot porridge when she works overtime, publicly defends her when she's slandered, and even secretly retrieves her hairpin from her past life. Just as Gu Zhaozhao finally gets evidence of Li's crimes, the old housekeeper's words break her: Li Jingshen's past life was Ah Jing, the young guard who died saving her a thousand years ago! The "revenge plan" she thought was actually his "love-seeking plan" that he had waited a thousand years for?
