Retired farmer Old Zhou, who planned to enjoy his retirement, stubbornly revives his long-unfinished dream of developing super rice from his younger days, facing fierce opposition from his family—his son thinks he’s wasting time, and villagers doubt his capability. Cornered, he meets Su Xiao, a young agronomy postgraduate just back from overseas. From clashing over concepts to standing side by side day and night, Su Xiao is touched by Old Zhou’s persistence, and romance blossoms. They solve technical hurdles in the fields, stumble on secrets of ancient rice seeds, finally breed high-yield, salt-resistant super rice, win family support, and become a rural revitalization benchmark. Old Zhou fulfills his long-held dream at last.
