Down-and-out curator Lin Xiaoman takes over a dying old art museum, only to discover "spirits" in the exhibits—an Republic-era painter's self-portrait that draws new outlines of his lover at midnight, a Tang Dynasty pottery figurine that secretly tidies display cases, and an 80s camera that keeps popping up photos of a strange girl. To fight the real estate developer's demolition plan, Lin is forced to collaborate with the "spirits" on an exhibition, only to uncover their obsessions: the painter has waited 80 years for his missing lover, the figurine wants to guard its owner's old home, and the camera holds the photographer's unsaid regret for his daughter. What's more, Lin finds out her grandmother was the museum's administrator back then, and her diary hides the secret of the spirits' seal. As the wrecking ball roars closer, the unveiling of the last exhibit will reverse everyone's fate.
