After being widowed for five years, retired worker Chen Jianguo falls for Aunt Li, a gentle square dance partner, and plans to spend his old age with her. But Li's greedy son and his family suddenly show up, pretending to care for their mother while eyeing Chen's demolition compensation. They spread slanders and collude with outsiders to set traps to swindle him. Undaunted, Chen uses his lifelong wisdom and help from old friends to expose their schemes, teach the greedy relatives a hard lesson, protect his savings and guard his hard-won late-life love.
