In the 1980s, Lin Jiang, a fisherman in a coastal village, is betrayed by his ambitious brother-in-law who colludes with outsiders to seize his ancestral fishing ground and drain all his savings, leaving him bankrupt overnight. In desperation, he unlocks his ancestors' exclusive skill of identifying fish and tides, allowing him to precisely locate dense schools of fish. He then amasses a fortune by catching massive nets of fish, meets a kind fisherman's daughter, exposes his brother-in-law's conspiracy, and achieves a brilliant comeback.
