Yun Que, a minor immortal at the edge of the Journey to the West world, accidentally awakens Primordial Chaos Purple Qi and gains the power to incite rebellion—he successfully incites Sun Wukong, who was suppressed under the Five Elements Mountain after rebelling in the Heavenly Palace. Hidden cracks exist in the scripture-seeking scheme. Using the cosmic chess game as leverage, Yun Que unites the discontented master-disciple team: Tang Sanzang fearing no merit from the journey, Sha Wujing resenting menial work, and Zhu Bajie being lazy and lustful. He gradually dismantles the entire scripture-seeking plan, vows to overthrow the Western Paradise's controlled chess game, rewrite the established fate of the three realms, and embark on a subversive counterattack legend of traditional Journey to the West.
