In the 1980s, Lin Xiaoman, who had been married to the Li family in Kaoshan Tun for three years, was framed as a "husband-killer" by her evil mother-in-law despite her devotion. On New Year's Eve, her cheating husband pushed her into a dry well. On the brink of death, she encountered the ghost of an old woman in a Republic of China cheongsam—who had been killed by the Li ancestors for her property. When Xiaoman woke up, she found herself back to the morning of New Year's Eve. Using the clues from the ghost, she exposed her husband's affair with the village beauty first, then revealed the Li family's dirty past in public. The evil mother-in-law went insane, and the unfaithful husband was taken to the police station. Finally, the ghost was laid to rest, and Xiaoman, holding her three-year-old stray dog, watched the rising sun in the snow, finally escaping fate's trap.
