Wang Dapiao is the village's well-known "show-off", always fond of bragging and putting on a facade. This year, when his crispy peaches have a bountiful harvest, an outside buyer offers triple the market price for all the peaches. His relatives and friends urge him to seize the chance, but he refuses outright to save face, insisting on waiting for a higher price. Eventually, the peaches rot on the trees as they overripen, wiping out all his year's efforts. Feeling frustrated, his childhood sweetheart Liu Xiaohua never abandons him, instead encouraging him to start over. Meanwhile, the village investor Mr. Li approaches him, seemingly with a new opportunity. Will this failure be the start of his comeback or a turning point in his life?
