Lin Chuan is the hardest-working intern judge in the Underworld's Mengpo Village—not out of passion, but because of 996. After boiling Mengpo Soup until midnight for three straight months, he slams his resignation letter on the table, only to be tricked by the King of Hell: “Finish one last task to resolve a mortal's obsession, or lose your reincarnation chance for three lifetimes.” The target is Su Xiaoqing, a corporate slave in the mortal world—someone PUAed by her boss into missing her grandma's last moments to revise proposals. But when Lin Chuan touches her obsession fragment, his sealed past-life memories resurface: a hundred years ago, he was the scholar who died saving her? Worse, his Underworld ID fails, trapping him in the mortal world, while the Underworld inspection team chases him to “bring him back to overtime.” As he helps Su Xiaoqing tear up unfair contracts and fight workplace bullying, and evades pursuit, Lin Chuan realizes: the real meaning of “hating 996” isn't running away—it's staying with the important person and living well.
