Shen Zhaozhao, the most favored嫡 princess of the Great Ning Dynasty, was framed for her mother’s treason on her coming-of-age ceremony. Her mother, the Empress, burned herself to prove innocence, and Zhaozhao was demoted to a commoner and exiled. Desperate, she was saved by Gu Yanzhi—a wandering doctor who hid his identity as a survivor of the former dynasty, secretly plotting to restore his kingdom. To uncover the truth about her mother’s death, Zhaozhao returned to the palace as a maid, battling her old enemies: the Consort and her daughter. Gu Yanzhi helped her scheme in the shadows, and their relationship shifted from mutual exploitation to love. As conspiracies unraveled, Zhaozhao cleared her mother’s name and became the Crown Princess; Gu Yanzhi let go of his revenge. Together, they wrote a sweet legend of “pursuing justice while falling in love” amid power struggles.
