A quartet of childhood friends from Northeast China relocate to a southern metropolis to chase their dreams. Wang Dazhu and his pals get caught up in hilarious misadventures: one chases live-stream commerce to get rich fast, another fights to reclaim unpaid project funds, and a third is too shy to confess his crush on their gentle female roommate. Between burnt Northeastern soybean paste, a disastrous live stream, and a chance run-in with an old flame while collecting debts, they support one another through tough times. At the year-end gathering, they realize the fulfillment they’ve been chasing has long been right there in their mutual care.
