After Lin Wan’s 10-year best friend Su Xiao went missing following their small gathering, surveillance footage showed them arguing about Lin’s mom being scammed by a health product scheme. With Su’s last phone call traced to Lin, the police immediately labeled her the prime suspect. Facing police interrogations, her boyfriend’s doubt, and online abuse calling her a “toxic friend,” Lin was determined to prove her innocence. She uncovered Su’s oddities: frequent trips to a nursing home, a stack of victim statements, and an encrypted “Evidence” folder on her phone. Following the clues, Lin learned Su had been investigating the same scam—whose mastermind was her boyfriend’s older brother! Worse, Su’s disappearance was due to holding key evidence and being kidnapped by the scam group. Just as Lin found the USB drive Su hid in a café, a hand crept toward her in the dark… With Su’s safety hanging by a thread, can Lin break through the fog, save Su, and uncover all the truth?
