Su Wanqing, a concubine's daughter of the Prime Minister's mansion whose mother died wrongfully, hides her female identity and studies diligently for a decade under the name 'Su Qing', determined to clear her mother's name through the imperial exam. In the first exam, she catches the eye of Gu Zhaozhi, a cold and aloof supervisory censor—this man sees through her secret at a glance but keeps it to himself, even coming to her rescue multiple times when her stepmother frames her or when she's caught in an exam leak scandal. As Su Wanqing advances to the final palace exam with real talent, Gu Zhaozhi's identity as 'the late emperor's orphan' gradually emerges, and their relationship—from mutual testing to mutual devotion—deepens amid imperial conspiracies and her exam journey.
