Veteran Li Jianguo had waited a whole year for his son Li Yang, who just resigned from his job in Shenzhen, to come home for the Spring Festival. The old father had long prepared handwritten Spring Festival couplets, sausages he'd been curing for half a month, and even dug out Li Yang's childhood cotton pants to air on the balcony. But Li Yang came home with pre-cooked meals and a projector—he wanted a "minimalist New Year": no relatives, no big family meals, just a video call with his long-distance girlfriend to stay up till midnight. The father and son argued from "which side to paste the couplets" to "whether to cook dumplings or hot pot for New Year's Eve dinner". It wasn't until Li Jianguo secretly found the ticket Li Yang had hidden that he realized the ticket was for a "family trip"—Li Yang had long planned to take his dad to his girlfriend's hometown to experience a new kind of Spring Festival. In the end, they pasted couplets together, the father video-called his comrades via the projector, and the son ate the sausages his dad made. Only then did they understand that the "lively" in "lively Spring Festival" has always been the warmth of love.
