In a famine year, Ye Zhaozhao, a newly widowed woman, was on the brink of starvation with her three-year-old son Xiaodouzi—until she bound the "Famine Meat System". By doing small favors like carrying water for an elderly woman or sharing wild vegetables with kids, she could exchange for bacon, live chickens, even whole pigs! She fed her son warm meat congee and gave extra meat to neighbors starving with crying children, but faced rogues robbing meat and a cold county magistrate investigating "hidden provisions". Yet the system had backups: rogues were sent flying by the "anti-robbery wrist guard" when they reached out, and the magistrate found the system's "merit book"—instead of punishing her, he became her backer. From digging grass roots to having meat every meal, from surviving alone to leading the village in farming, Ye Zhaozhao turned the famine into a "meat year". Even Xiaodouzi held a chicken leg and yelled: "Mom, we'll have meat every day now!"
