Modern office worker Su Xiao unexpectedly inherits her grandpa's old suburban zoo, planning to laze around, but gets bound with a "Beast Taming Upgrade System" which forces her to upgrade the ordinary zoo into an ancient beast-taming sect. Though the animals are pandas, peacocks and Tibetan mastiffs, the system labels them as ancient spirit beasts—the panda becomes the ancient cute beast Baize, peacock the Nine-tailed Phoenix, Tibetan mastiff the Nether Mastiff. Su Xiao has to handle the system's quirky tasks and others' doubts, starting a counterattack in modern city: from a mocked zoo owner to the leader of the world's top beast-taming sect, she also meets a cold scholar who understands spirit beasts, with a booming career and love life full of satisfying thrills.
