Village "shaman" Zhou Guilan suddenly comes to the city to find her daughter Su Xiaoyu, an urban white-collar worker, only to discover Xiaoyu is being investigated for a company financial fraud case—Xiaoyu insists she's innocent but has no proof. Guilan doesn't believe in "science"; she squats outside the company reading employees' faces, rummages through trash for evidence, and even uses rural "soul-calling" to force the guilty supervisor to slip up. Xiaoyu is ashamed: "Can your feudal superstition be evidence?" Until Guilan holds shredded account books from the garbage dump, pointing to the supervisor's wrist mole: "The one who stole temple incense money had the same mole." Xiaoyu realizes—her mother's "magic" was never superstition, but life experience of reading people, and courage to protect her at all costs. As truth unfolds, their 20-year心结—Guilan missed Xiaoyu's college exam to find an abducted village child—finally heals.
