Lin Xiaotang, a top investment banker in the city, has a best friend Zhou Min, a newly retired teacher who is scammed out of her entire life savings of 300,000 yuan by her 'domineering CEO' boyfriend under the guise of an 'elderly care investment project'. When Zhou Min turns to her in tears, the scammer not only disappears but also accuses her of 'blackmail'. Determined to get back Zhou's pension, Lin quits her high-paying job and goes undercover as a wealthy woman to infiltrate the fraud ring—only to find that the mastermind is Gu Cheng, her ex-boyfriend who dumped her in college. The man who once promised to 'take care of her forever' on the playground is now a 'romance scammer' targeting middle-aged women. Torn between her best friend's livelihood and lingering feelings for Gu, Lin uses her investment banking expertise to unravel the scam, trick Gu into exposing his true colors, and eventually recover Zhou's money while taking down the entire fraud ring. Along the way, she sees through Gu's hypocrisy, finds true love with a police officer, and grows from a 'career elite' to a 'protector'.
