Su Wan, a nine-tailed fox from Qingqiu, has spent a millennium devoting her tails to "redeeming" Yun Que, the Immortal of Reincarnation—all to repay his past-life salvation and free him from heavenly constraints. Unbeknownst to her, Yun Que long ago traded his immortal bones for a life-saving pill to protect her. When Su Wan uses her eighth tail to shield Yun Que from a heavenly tribulation, she stumbles upon his 300-year-old blood letter: "I never wanted to redeem you. What I wanted was a future where we could share the warmth of mortal life together." But as heavenly punishment descends and Yun Que teeters on the edge of dissipation, will Su Wan use her last tail to save his present… or gamble on their next lifetime?
