Thirty years ago, Lin Shulan, unable to afford her daughter's surgery fee, had no choice but to entrust her feverish child to a "kind stranger," and since then, she has borne the stigma of a "heartless mother." Today, her daughter Shen Wanning, a lawyer specializing in custody cases, comes to investigate the truth about her abandonment, only to find Lin Shulan lying in a hospital bed—she is in the advanced stage of stomach cancer, clutching a yellowed surgery bill. It turns out the "kind stranger" was a human trafficker. Lin Shulan has been searching for her daughter all her life, even selling blood to save money to get her back. When Shen Wanning finds the 30-year-old missing person notices and her childhood toys hidden by her mother, she finally understands: the mother's "sin" was a desperate choice, the "punishment" was a lifetime of longing and regret, and all this "sin and punishment" was love carved into her bones.
