Bai Su, a thousand-year-old fox spirit, descends to the mortal world to repay a past-life favor—her savior has reincarnated as Gu Zhao, a poor scholar and disciple of the Demon-Hunting Pavilion who loathes fox spirits! She uses her powers to help Gu Zhao pass the imperial exam and fend off evil, all while hiding her identity. But when her fox ears are exposed in an accident, Gu Zhao draws his sword—only to recall their past: 500 years ago, he died saving a little fox from hunters. Is this reunion a debt to repay, or a love to rekindle? When the order to exterminate foxes comes, will Gu Zhao choose his sect’s rules or his heart? Can Bai Su’s true love break the “humans and foxes are forbidden” curse?
