Lin Xiaoman, an urban designer, rushes back to Qing Shan Village after her grandmother's death, only to find the village's ancient ancestral hall is set for demolition—and the project leader is Chen Mo, her ex-boyfriend who broke up with her three years ago over a misunderstanding. To fulfill her grandmother's last wish of "guarding the hall," Xiaoman stays to rally villagers for historical evidence, clashing with Chen Mo while uncovering her grandmother's diary: inside the hall lies a jade hairpin, a love token from Chen Mo's grandfather to her grandma, and the old misunderstanding unravels. On the day the excavators arrive, Chen Mo suddenly presents a "cultural preservation plan"—he'd been secretly gathering evidence to help Xiaoman all along. Can the two lovers guard their shared "root" under the verdant hills, and reclaim their lost love?
