Shen Zhaozhao, daughter of a general, spent all her family's wealth to help her poor fiancé Chen Shimei pass the imperial exam. But after Chen topped the exam, he betrayed her to curry favor with the Crown Princess, framing the Shen family for "hiding military supplies" and leading to their execution. Zhaozhao survived a cliff fall, disguised herself as a maid in the Crown Prince's palace, and became his trusted aide with her wit. While gathering evidence of Chen and the Crown Princess's conspiracy, she worked to clear her family's name. On Chen's wedding day to the Crown Princess, Zhaozhao burst into the court with the late emperor's sword, listed Chen's crimes of unfaithfulness and treason, and beheaded him. However, she never expected that the Crown Prince had known everything all along—and even used her to eliminate the Crown Princess's power. Was this revenge just a pawn in the power game?
