Lu Zhao, commander of the Jinyiwei, dominates the court with his ruthless reputation of 'holding all power', but is secretly distrusted by the emperor and framed by powerful officials for his high achievements. To get out of the predicament, he makes a 'fake marriage contract' with Princess Jingning Shen Qingyue, who is out of favor—he helps her retrieve her mother's relics, and she helps him dispel the emperor's suspicion. However, as they work together to break the palace struggle and expose the rebel plot, the true feelings in the fake relationship grow hot: Lu Zhao will risk his life to test poison for her when she is poisoned, and Shen Qingyue dares to break into the palace with the late emperor's edict when he is accused of 'treason'. Mutual protection in the whirlpool of power, sweet and abusive counterattack between the ruthless commander and the stubborn princess—watch how they protect each other's 'world' in the shadow of swords.
