Lin Xiaoman, the "jinx girl" despised by everyone in Taohua Village, makes a living by picking wild vegetables. One day, she digs up a jar of gold ingots carved with fox patterns under the old locust tree behind the mountain. As the news spreads, the whole village goes mad—The village chief's family, who once trampled on her, scramble to curry favor; the villagers who used to curse her crowd her door with gifts; even her "fiancé", who disappeared for ten years, comes back begging for reconciliation. But eerie things happen one after another: Those who take the ingots either get seriously ill or hear the old locust tree crying at night. When the village chief's son steals an ingot and turns into a pile of bones, Xiaoman realizes—This gold is a "greed trap" set by a fox fairy, and she is the only "key" in the trap.
