Ye Zhaoyi, the legitimate princess of the Chen Kingdom, survived the Northern Yan's invasion three years ago. To her horror, she later discovered that Northern Yan's royal descendants had become utterly decadent—the crown prince was obsessed with cockfighting, the second prince embezzled military funds, and the emperor was addicted to alchemy. Worse still, the order to destroy Chen was driven by the royal family's greed. Determined to avenge her country and restore peace, she disguised herself as Shen Qing, the daughter of a convicted official, and infiltrated the Northern Yan palace as the crown prince's companion. Using the benevolent governance wisdom of Chen, she reformed the crown prince, exposed the second prince's crimes, and woke the emperor from his alchemy delusion. When her identity was revealed, Murong Zhan, the second prince who had always clashed with her, confessed: he had known her true identity all along—for he was the one who opposed the destruction of Chen. Turning from rivals to allies, they worked together to reform the chaotic royal family. In this counterattack, Ye Zhaoyi found a faith more profound than hatred.
