Lin Xiaoman, a young relic restoration apprentice, is working on a Tang Dynasty painting of a noble concubine late at night when the woman in the painting suddenly “comes to life”—it’s her ancestor Murong Wan, who’s been missing for a thousand years! The concubine claims she died wrongfully, her soul trapped in the painting, and only finding the evidence to clear her name can let her reincarnate. Xiaoman initially dismisses it as a hallucination, but strange events soon escalate: peonies in the painting bloom at midnight, she repeatedly dreams of the concubine being pushed into a lotus pond, and a mysterious figure even tries to steal the painting! As she investigates, Xiaoman discovers a shocking secret—she’s the descendant of the concubine, who was secretly sent out of the palace back then! Worse, the descendant of the person who framed the concubine is lurking nearby, determined to erase the truth forever...
