In the late Republic of China, Su Wan, a medical student, ventures alone into Qingzhu Village—rumored to be haunted by a "five poisons curse"—to find her missing mentor. Lin Shen, the valley's guardian, blocks her path with a bamboo flute, warning: "No one who enters leaves alive." But strange illnesses soon plague the village: villagers develop green scales, fear light, and crave raw insects. The village shaman claims it’s the "five poisons curse," but Su Wan notices eerie parallels to her mentor’s research on ancient prescriptions. As she digs deeper, she discovers Lin Shen is the last heir protecting the "Five Poisons Spirit Pond"—a source of antidotes for rare toxins and a treasure lusted after by warlords. When warlords storm the valley to steal the treasure, Su Wan fights to save her mentor while Lin Shen defends the pond. Forced to team up, they uncover a shocking truth: the "curse" is a lie crafted by ancestors to protect the pond, and the real danger lurks among the seemingly ordinary villagers…
