Su Wan, a debt-ridden genius music teacher, is suddenly bound to the "Shanhai Music Note System"—she must repair rifts in the Shanhai World with music to clear her debts. Even more absurd, she finds a cute girl Xiaotang who calls her "Mom" and claims her "Dad is Gu Yanzhi"—the icy CEO who once scolded her publicly for "using music to deceive". For the mission, Su Wan is forced into a "contract cohabitation" with Gu. While using piano to wake Shanhai spirits in old alleys and dealing with Gu's sharp tongue, she discovers Gu is the "Boundary Guardian" of Shanhai, and Xiaotang is the embodiment of their unfinished past-life promise. When the last note lights the rift, Su realizes: the "journey to Shanhai" is just using music to find the lover hidden by time.
