Rural widow Lin Xiaoman loses her husband in an accident, only to be coerced by her vicious mother-in-law—who withholds her child’s custody to force her out empty-handed. Desperate, Gu Ye, the village’s quiet forest ranger, suddenly proposes a flash marriage—to help her regain her child. Living in the mountain ranger’s cabin, Gu Ye’s tenderness slowly melts Xiaoman’s heart: he makes preserves from wild fruits to comfort the child, repairs the leaky roof on a rainy night, and even secretly revives her late husband’s handmade chili sauce workshop. But when the mother-in-law stirs up trouble again, Gu Ye pulls out a share transfer document—revealing he’s a retired urban entrepreneur, hiding in the village to find “the girl who saved him years ago.” Just as Xiaoman lets her guard down, the “accidental death” of her ex-husband turns out to be a plot by the mother-in-law. Together, they uncover the truth; Xiaoman rises as a rural entrepreneur with her chili sauce business,打脸 the vicious mother-in-law. Finally, Gu Ye confesses: “Ten years ago, you gave me a bowl of ginger tea when I was freezing on the mountain—I’ve been looking for you ever since.”
