Xiao Jingheng, the eldest grandson of the Daqian Emperor, was abandoned in the cold palace as a child and raised by a deposed concubine. He pretends to be a dissipated playboy who only fights cocks and walks dogs, but secretly practices literature and martial arts in the palace's密室 every night—determined to clear his foster mother's name of the “treason” charge that ruined her 20 years ago. Unexpectedly, the Emperor suddenly summons him back to the palace and appoints him as the “Regent Grandson”—a vicious plot by the Empress’ faction: to use him to eliminate the Third Prince, then frame him for “killing his uncle” and execute him. Caught between his foster mother’s blood feud and the palace’s deadly intrigues, Xiao Jingheng uses his flippant demeanor as armor, dancing on the edge of power struggles: his goal isn’t just to survive, but to uncover the dark truth hidden for 20 years.
