In early Republican China, Zhang Bei—a fugitive harboring forbidden arts—masquerades as a street illusionist in a bustling port town. When he exposes a南洋邪修's fraud to save an old friend's daughter during an auction, a blood curse marks him for death. Cornered, Zhang Bei must resurrect dangerous powers, weaving intricate illusions through opium dens and mysterious opera stages. As the cult leader tears down his tricks with a sneer, 'Your whole act is fake!', city lights plunge into darkness. Only the eerie blue flame dancing on Zhang Bei's fingertip remains: 'For decades I faked every trick... except this one.'
