Daoist Master Xuanqing, who has lived for 800 years, is ordered by his master to descend the mountain to slay demons. Unexpectedly, most 'demons' in the mortal world are just minor misunderstandings like frauds and workplace disputes, and even mobile phones seem like 'evil arts' to him, leading to frequent awkward jokes. He meets Su Tang, a kind and straightforward urban girl, and intends to settle at her convenience store. However, he accidentally gets involved in a conspiracy about a thousand-year spirit bead—an evil demon cultivator tries to seize the bead to harm the world. Xuanqing uses his millennium-old cultivation to subdue real demons while fumbling through modern life, warmed by Su Tang's kindness. He embarks on a funny, hot-blooded counterattack and sweet love journey, vowing to protect the mortal world and the person he loves.
