Lin Xiaoman, owner of a seaside homestay, has counted sunsets on her balcony every day for three years—that’s the promise she made with her photographer boyfriend Cheng Ye: when he finishes his around-the-world project, they’ll watch the 100th sunset together. But Cheng Ye went missing three months after leaving. On the evening of the 99th day, a photographer named Chen Mo arrives at the homestay. He holds an old camera engraved with “Xiaoman” and says he’s here to shoot “unfinished sunsets”. Xiaoman discovers that Chen Mo’s lens hides the back of her watching sunsets every day for three years—turns out Cheng Ye had a car accident and lost his memory, with the only clue being the “99th sunset for Xiaoman” unsent in his camera. As the 99th sunset dips into the sea, Chen Mo touches the engraving on the camera and suddenly remembers the girl holding an orange soda, saying, “I’ll wait for you”…
