Retired train driver Lao Zhou, holding his late wife's urn, missed the last bus to the seaside and sits silently on a bench. The three strangers with their own troubles cross paths over a plate of hot sweet potatoes: Xiao Tang helps Lao Zhou find money for a ticket, Lao Zhou mentions his late wife's fondness for Aunt Wang's sweet potato scent, and Aunt Wang suddenly gets a call—the voice on the other end is her son's: “Mom, I'm at the door.
