Ah Zhu, a mute boy, begs for a living with his mother and is often bullied by town thugs. When his mother is pushed against a wall and falls comatose while protecting him, Ah Zhu cries until he faints—suddenly, memories of his past life as a Blood Monk flood back. He was once an enlightened monk who guarded the land, but was framed by villains and reincarnated to endure suffering. Regaining his powers, blood-colored Buddha light glows from Ah Zhu's fingertips. Before the thugs can react, they turn to ashes amid shrill screams. The whole town freezes in shock, but Ah Zhu only kneels beside his mother, using his newly recovered power to gently hold her limp hand.
