In the mountain village near Erlong Lake in Northeast China, good-for-nothing Hao Ge drags an eccentric old man calling himself "Miracle Doctor Zhang with One Needle" to the village to make quick cash. Locals all dismiss him as a quack, until the village Party secretary falls ill with a mysterious ailment that stumps all Western doctors. Zhang uses nothing but a handful of silver needles and folk remedies to turn the tide. Along the way, there are countless hilarious mishaps: treating a plow ox's bloating with acupuncture, being mistaken for a chicken thief, and finally exposing his long-buried grudge against the village. Hao Ge also transforms from a reckless loafer into a reliable community helper through this chaos.
