Lin Mo returns to his hometown for his mother's funeral and finds his father being picked on by the villainous neighbor Li Erzhu on Bluestone Road. His father endures in silence, and the cold-faced townspeople mock the Lins' weakness. Instead of resorting to violence, Lin collects evidence of the neighbor's illegal construction and spreading rumors, unites oppressed neighbors to reason. After driving the bad neighbor away, the previously indifferent townspeople change their minds, from skepticism to approval, all obeying, warming the long-lost hearts on Bluestone Road.
