Su Wan, a wind farm engineer, returns to the Gobi Desert to fix a faulty unit, only to stumble into the lens of Cheng Yu—a photographer who left without a word three years prior. Back then, they fell for each other during a storm rescue, but Cheng Yu vanished one rainy night with a note: “When the wind stops, so should we.” Now reunited, Cheng Yu approaches under the pretense of filming a documentary, but Su Wan uncovers his secret: his ex-girlfriend died in a wind disaster, and he ran away fearing his “disaster magnet” fate would hurt her. When a sandstorm hits again, Cheng Yu shields Su Wan with his body—and finally, they tear off the “wind-stopped” facade. Those unspoken “I never left” have been swirling in every wind that brushes the turbines for three long years.
