In 1930s Shanghai, famous opera singer Su Wanqing had a sweet romance with newspaper reporter Shen Yanqiu. But Shen left without a word to go to Europe to curry favor with the powerful when his family fell on hard times, leaving Su alone to run the opera troupe. Ten years later, Shen, now a wealthy businessman from Southeast Asia, returns to Shanghai. He is shocked to see Su, who has changed her name and runs a teahouse, standing beside a little boy who looks exactly like him. The old romance can never cross the ten-year time flood. When he tries to recognize her, Su stops him with a cold gaze, and the old affection only ends with a reluctant sigh.
