Xiao Tang, fresh from a breakup, rummages through her parents' old belongings to find "evidence of love's failure" to fend off marriage pressure. Instead, she stumbles upon 50 unsent love letters from her dad to her mom, a movie ticket stub marked "missed"—and even hears from the neighbor that her dad once had a "first love"! When she presses her parents, they clam up—until she finds a yellowed diary that reveals the truth: Dad secretly worked at a construction site to raise Mom's college tuition, missing their planned confession; Mom, however, had long known his feelings, hiding his "unsent" words in the warm soybean milk he brought her every morning. This 30-year-old "expired love" makes Xiao Tang rediscover her parents' tenderness and regain her courage for love.
