Lin Wan, an architect, fights tooth and nail to protect "Jingning Lane"—the old alley of her childhood—from Lu Shen, a wealthy capitalist seeking to acquire it. She calls him a "capitalist butcher tearing down homes," while he mocks her as an "idealist stuck in the past." Yet during their battles, Lin Wan notices Lu Shen secretly restoring the alley’s old items and knowing every bluestone’s history. Lu Shen also realizes Lin Wan’s "stubbornness" comes from her deep love for the alley’s residents. When a powerful developer arrives with a demolition order, Lu Shen confesses: he’s an orphan who lost his grandma to a past demolition, and he’s back to protect the alley using his capital. They were never enemies—long before they knew it, they’d already fallen for the same "jiangshan" (Jingning Lane) in the twilight where day and night meet, their hearts united for the home they both cherish.
